How to use Gmail to send and receive mails from another account?

This is definitely a frequently asked question by many e-mail users that they wanted to know if Gmail allows to send or receive mails from another e-mail service. Fortunately they allows. Apart from Gmail, some other e-mail service providers also offers this.  If you own a domain of your own and you have an economy hosting plan which don't allow you to store more e-mails which consumes space, this will be a useful feature. There is more than seven Gigabyte of space in google to do this! By doing this, you can view/send mails from
multiple mail accounts by just logging in to Gmail. The good part is that it is so easy and you don't have any pain to change your domain settings for this. You should be aware that you can't use the feature to import mails from another Gmail account.

Follow these simple steps to Import Mail (Receive) from an e-mail account other than Gmail.

Please note that this article is already posted in this blog in the previous month. I am re posting it because of some changes occurred recently in the procedure.

First of all, read the articles

How to use Gmail to send e-mails from another e-mail account other than Gmail?

and

to have a clear picture about the task.

The main change is that you can do both two tasks with a single window in GMail settings. In settings tab, go to Accounts tab and then click on link ' Add a POP3 mail account you own'. Now you will get a new window asking for your e-mail address. Enter your e-mail address and click 'Next Step'. In this step, enter your e-mail address as user name and the password for the same. no need to change the pop server. make a tick mark on 'Label Incoming messages'. and click 'Add account' button.

Select 'Yes, I want to be able to send mail as .... and click 'Next Step'. Enter your name and again click 'Next Step' Button. Select 'Send through Gmail and go to next step. Click on 'Send Verification'. Check your inbox for a verification e-mail. If it is not there, wait for few minutes and click on the verification link on it. Otherwise, copy the verification code in the mail and paste it in the code confirmation window. That's all.

Now all mails coming to your second e-mail address will redirect to your first account. also you can send on behalf of your new account by selecting the mail address from the 'from' option in the compose window.
