How to use Gmail to send e-mails from another e-mail account other than Gmail?

It is a good idea to use Gmail to send mails on behalf of your another e-mail account.Thanks to Gmail. You can use Gmail to send mails from another e-mail ID. Suppose you have a second e-mail id like name@something.com and you want to send mail using that mail ID and you want to send it using gmail itself, you can. The receiver will get  the mail 'From' your second ID.

Follow these simple steps to get the idea work.

Log In to Gmail and Click settings.


Go to Accounts and Import and Click on 'Add another E-mail Address you own' link.


In the popup window, Enter Your name to be shown in 'From' Field and e-mail ID from which you wants to send emails from. Click Next Step.


Select Send through Gmail and Click Next Step.

Click On 'Send Verification'


After this step, you will get a verification mail to the e-mail address you provided in the pop up window. You need to click the link on that e-mail or simply enter the verification code in the e-mail to the next window.


In the above step, you should notice that, if you are already using Gmail to receive mails from the above said e-mail, the verification link containing code will get in your Gmail inbox within minutes (This may take several minutes). Congratulations! Now you completed all the steps. If you want to set this mail ID to your default mail ID, Go to Settings > Accounts and Import (As shown in second figure).

Click on 'Make default' link, corresponding to the mail ID you want to set as default.


Now you are ready. Get Out from Settings and click on Compose.  In the 'From' field, select the account you want to send mail from and Go.
